Capital District Chapter of NYSARA Medicare 50th Birthday event

On July 30, 2015 the Capital District Chapter of NYSARA along with Statewide Senior Action  Council and other Community Partners sponsored an event celebrating the 50th anniversary/birthday of Medicare.  This celebration included a concert by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary fame, a video highlighting the history and importance of Medicare, speakers including Congressman Paul Tonko, NYSARA President Barry Kaufmann, Statewide Senior Action Council Executive Director, Maria Alvarez, the Mayor of Cohoes, the Treasurer of Albany and the local NYS Assemblyperson.  A 50th birthday cake and exhibits rounded out the celebration.  Well over 200 people attended this event.
