New York City Chapter of NYSARA August 19th Social Security Event

 

An event celebrating Social Security’s 80th Anniversary was held on Wednesday, August 19th at JASA Cooper Square, 200 East 5th Street, Manhattan.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]JASA and the New York City Chapter of NYSARA co-sponsored the event, with numerous partners, including: the Institute for Puerto Rican/Hispanic Elderly, StateWide Senior Action Council, Harlem Independent Living Center, Teamsters Local 237, 1199, 1180, Workers United, UFT, and others.

There were over 100 seniors in attendance. The program included an overview of the importance of Social Security, testimonials by beneficiaries and a Social Security 80th birthday cake!  Comments were made by NYSARA President Barry Kaufmann, NYC Chapter of NYSARA Chair and Co-Chair Audrey Iszard and Doris Welch, JASA Legislative Director and NYSARA Community Vice President Molly Krakowski, Institute for Puerto Rican/Hispanic Elderly Founder and NYSARA Board member Suleika Cabrera Drinane, as well as local political representatives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
