Safe Staffing for Quality Act Day of Advocacy May 10

The Safe Staffing for Quality Care Act calls on hospitals to maintain a reasonable ratio of nurses to patients, ensuring better care and saving lives. That is why the New York State Alliance for Retired Americans is one of 13 organizations that are collaborating to get this law passed in New York. NYSARA feels strongly that there is never too high a price to pay to save lives and make the quality of life for patients better.

A day of advocacy is planned for May 10, focusing on safe nurse staffing ratios in hospitals and nursing homes. The event, sponsored by Statewide Senior Action will be held in conjunction with many of the health care unions. We will have a separate briefing in Meeting Room 6 starting at 10:30, and join the unions for lunch. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is needed. Buses are being chartered from throughout the state, and there is room for NYSARA members to be on board.

If you need transportation you must RSVP by May 2 and must register with Gail Myers at statewide4@gmail.com or 1-800-333-4374 or cell: 518-703-2617.

Special arrangements have been made to have the Statewide charter bus drop attendees close to the meeting room at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, to minimize the walking. After the event the busses will be leaving Albany at 3:00 pm.
Any questions can also be e mailed to president@newyorkstateara.org.
