2025 and President Trump’s Betrayal of America’s Seniors

A report by the Minority Staff of the U.S Senate Special Committee on Aging

This report focuses on eight harms that are representative of how President trump failed seniors in 2025.

  1. The President broke his promise to tame inflation and expressed disdain for concerns about the cost-of-living. This especially impacts older adults on fixed incomes
  2. The President created the so called “Department of Government Efficiency,”whichattacked the infrastructure that supports social
  3. The President decimated Medicaid, which provides critical health coverage to older adults and people with disabilities, to help slash taxes for wealthy Americans. Hint, this kicks in after the midterm elections and will close as many as 22 hospitals in NYS.
  4. The President repealed key nursing home safety standards after being lobbied by wealthy nursing home executives thereby weakening the safeguards for patients in those nursing homes.
  5. The President disrupted services authorized by the Older Americans Act (OAA) including programs such as Meals on Wheels.
  6. The President created new red tape for older adults to access food assistance,as another way to fund tax cuts for wealthy American’s.
  7. The President proposed steep cuts for nonprofits that protect people with disabilities – which also serves many older adults.
  8. The President attempted to dismantle the agency that guards Americans againstfinancial crimes, including financial crimes that target older
